Learning Project Linker #6: Bashing Through Online….Again? Hours Spent 6 Hours

These days have been very tough on me due the unending homework that I have been having lately. I was like, nope, I’m gonna play Assassin’s Creed and “chilloot” for a while hahaha. What I found out was playing 6 hours straight can actually give strains to your eyes, mind, and body. I’m a gamer and I was always use to be exposed to video games for long period but that was years ago. Why? because Video games have evolve from sparingly awful graphics to high definition 3d game play and the expectations are very very high especially from the hit games such as Call of Duty, God of War, and Final Fantasy. I’m finally putting the hardest challenges that happen to me during the duration of this learning project.

The difficulties that I have experience was my Internet connection. If you’re internet connection sucks, don’t even attempt to play this game online, because lag issues will emerge all over the place and ruin your gameplay. Also, it will disconnect very often due to the technical difficulties that are presents in the game.

Another difficulty, was group isolation. this means that you can’t switch teams once a team of four formed a group. they will own and kill you every time, They will stun you repeated and escape most of your chase sequences, and they will rack up the most point and make you lose.

Lastly, The Final difficulty that I had was the trash talking in the lobbies. I don’t personally talk shit on my the lobbies and games but I shout when I win and what I find humiliating is that a lot of people talk shit at you with your proper consent  and reason. I dislike people who do that and proclaim themselves as bona fide “professional” players when they’re not.

Well, I over did it 27 hours and still counting ’cause I still have to finish the campaign mode and rock at it due to the experience I earned from multiplayer mode but, until then, You just have to wait lol. Peace out! for now that is lol

Learning Project Linker #5: Multiplayer Mode: Enter Professional League – Hours Spent: 6hrs

It’s been a while since I got the chance to play AC Brotherhood. I was actually lucky enough to be playing with three people whom are “Professionals” at this game who acknowledged my abilities and allowed me to join their Manhunt team. To be with pro-leagues is an honor because I just started a game 2 months ago and I have been learning a lot from these guys and to think that “I am good enough to be on there team is quite awesome.

Let’s start Identifying these Pro-league players with their Loadouts, abilities, strategies, and records. This will actually include my abilities too ’cause I am part of the team lol.

Smoke Bomb

Smoke Bombs are used to trap players (as well as NPCs) and give the player a chance of escaping their pursuer. It is very useful, but still needs to reload for 60 seconds after it has been used. The smoke will only stop the victim for three seconds (four seconds if using Long Lasting Smoke Bombs) and does not affect allies. The ability is very noticeable from a distance due to the large smoke cloud and it does not have a large effect radius. It does stops a player using Charge or Sprint Boost, but only if it is thrown and activates before that player gets into assassination range.

It is common for players to wait until a pursuer is close and then use smoke bomb to trap them, making them easy to stun (+200). The smoke bomb can also counter a pursuer’s assassination, having you dodge out of the way, giving you an opportunity to stun them as they choke on the smoke after you dodge. Countering an assassination is tricky, because if you use the ability too soon you might not catch your pursuer in the smoke’s radius, or using it too late allows your pursuer to kill you in the brief span between deploying a smoke bomb and the smoke cloud appearing.

Good Counters for this tactic are using aerial kills as Smoke Bombs do not protect targets from air assassinations, or using Mute or your own Smoke Bomb (‘counter-smoking’) to disable them. Using the Hidden Gun from outside of the radius is effective as well. Though, with countering your target, you will still need to know which one the target is if they are hiding in crowds.

Charge

The Charge ability is extremely similar to Sprint Boost. However, this is used to charge straight forward, knocking the crowd away automatically. It can be used to quickly assassinate targets or stun any pursuers you hit. While charging you can steer slightly but players can avoid it by moving a few feet to the side. Another disadvantage is that you can be stopped if a player uses a throwing knife against you. An advantage of Charge is that if used to charge into a group of characters, morphed or otherwise, it will enable the user to achieve an auto-kill or stun if contact is made with an enemy player without even needing to know which player is their target or pursuer. Also, like the Sprint Boost, when damaged with a Throwing Knife you can use Charge to negate the effects of the Throwing Knife. The Charge ability is very useful, but if activated too late (When your pursuer is in front of you about 2 to 3 meters away) your charge will be of no use and you’ll be killed. You cannot be killed, nor can you be stunned, while charge is active, but only if you are not using it on someone and only using it as an escape.

Note: If two people charge at each other at the same time, the one being pursued will stun the hunter.

Offensive Strategy: Takes advatage of the compass provided and strikes down at the perfect monent.

Defensive Strategy: Keeping on the move and keep changing location.

Personal Notes: This guy is known for killing people when you at least expect. Also, This guy will stun you a lot.

Bonuses: Mid-Air +100 (No other bonuses can be applied to the Hidden Gun, aside from Varieties, Offensive Co-op, Killstreaks and First Blood)The Hidden Gun is an additional weapon that can only be gained by selecting it as an ability. Since it is a long-range weapon, it allows the player to avoid approaching their target, and assassinate them quickly. The Hidden Gun can be used on moving targets as long as they are in your sight.

The disadvantages to using the Hidden Gun is that it takes 90 seconds for the cooldown after using the ability, in addition to the one and a half seconds necessary to aim it. During the time you are aiming, you are an easily noticed target for pursuers who would see you holding your arm out to take the shot. You will not get any bonus points when using the Hidden Gun instead of a normal kill, though you can get a Mid-Air bonus on the kill, provided your target is in the air when you fire.

Offensive Strategy: Runs if she has too. With her loadout, She is the fastest killer in the team.

Defensive Strategy: She will escape from you before you even get a hold of her throat.

Personal Notes: She is a very cunning player. Furthermore, her skills has proved to be very useful to the team. And She’s a girl gamer! which is always rare to find these days.

Poison

A target being poisoned.

The Poison ability acts very much like the Poison Blade from Assassin’s Creed II. This ability allows the player to “touch” their target in a subtle motion, and the poison will kill the infected player 5 seconds later.Advantages to this ability are that the animation is very subtle (it’s almost the same as a gentle push) and that the death takes place several seconds after being “infected.” However, from other player’s perspective (including the target being poisoned), there is no animation displayed. This makes it harder for pursuers to catch players who use poison for a kill. The ability also grants a +200 bonus to the kill, (+300 via slow-acting and +150 via fast-acting) and retains the status of when the player “infected” the target. For example, if the player stays Incognito to poison their target, and then runs away (making them go silent or discreet), gets stunned (which causes the stunned player to lose their contract), or killed, they player will still get full points for the Incognito kill after the target dies. Additionally, poisoning a target in a team mode allows the player to immediately kill another player afterwards, essentially taking out two players before any risk of being stunned during a kill animation is present.

Disadvantages to this ability are that the player must get closer to their target than they would have to if they simply killed the target, giving them a more likely chance of getting stunned. Other players can “intercept” by killing the target before the poison does, and the interceptor will receive a +50 bonus and also will the player who used Poison, although no points are awarded as for an actual kill. Poison cannot be used from within haystacks, but can be used on benches or in groups. It can also be used on grounded opponents.

Offensive Strategy: Runs, Dives, and kills! A very careful person who times it his poison very carefully

Defensive Strategy: Show up in front of the enemy and triggers chases and escapes them.

Personal Notes: This guy is our best player in our team. MVP? for sure. He acts as our team captain most of the time and ensure that everyone is with a buddy to avoid kills and execute kills faster

Personal Notes: Well, I do my best to be competitive. The Professional does not tolerate incompetence.

After playing with the Pro-Leagues, I feel less worried about learning skills because, These guys taught me how to execute skills and creatively escape my enemies. At first, I could not even believe that the pro-leagues gave me their attention. It’s Shocking but I belong to their team now.  I now have all the skills that I needed. Level 50 has been a very long journey for me, and also fun! Its Not over yet. The Game is just beginning!

Learning Project Linker #4: Bridging the Gap: AC 1 and AC2 – Hours Spent: 3hrs

I never actually played the previous two games of  Assassin’s Creed which led me to wonder what happened before this game even came.

Here are two summaries that I found to bridge the gaps of  Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood:

Assassin’s Creed

Desmond is a bartender that is kidnapped by a powerful corporation called Abstergo. After being explained to that he can use a machine called the Animus to relive his ancestors memories he agrees to cooperate with Abstergo.

Altair, his ancestor, is a disgraced assassin because he broke the three tenets of the assassins. In order to regain his former status he must hunt down nine key targets. Altair reluctantly agrees and his slowly hunts down the men he realizes they all have something in common. After assassinating all nine targets and discovering that his ninth target was in fact a trap, Altaïr confronts Robert in front of King Richard I of England, leader of the Crusader army. Altaïr informs Richard that Robert is plotting to betray and kill him, which causes him to encourage a duel to the death between Altaïr and Robert. Richard then believes Altaïr. Upon dying, Robert confesses to Altaïr that they were not nine, but ten Templars conspiring to take the Piece of Eden. The tenth being Al Mualim, who wanted to keep the Piece of Eden for himself and therefore sent out Altaïr to kill the others. Back at the Fortress, where Al Mualim had taken over the minds of the people inside, Altaïr manages to defeat and kill him in a duel. The memory Abstergo was searching for, which located the Piece of Eden, reveals it is only just one of 28 that are scattered across the world.

Back in 2012, Abstergo sends a team to recover as many Pieces as possible. Deciding they do not need him any more, they give orders to kill Desmond. Lucy Stillman, an Abstergo employee who revealed to Desmond that she is an undercover Assassin, convinces them not to kill Desmond until they recover the Pieces, buying him time. Desmond is left alone in the Animus room, and by the use of Altaïr’s Eagle Vision inherited from the ‘bleeding effect’ caused by the Animus, he sees many symbols drawn in blood on the wall in his room and on the floors of the lab. These symbols contain references to the end of the world in many different languages.

Assassin’s Creed II

Lucy returns and breaks Desmond out of Abstergo. He is brought to a hideout and introduced to her Assassin allies Shaun and Rebecca, as well as an updated version of the Animus. Knowing what is at stake, Desmond volunteers to enter the Animus again, and explore the memories of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young nobleman from 1476 in FlorenceRepublic of Florence. He hopes to gain Ezio’s abilities through the Bleeding Effect so he can aid the Assassins.

Ezio’s father and brothers are executed by the hand of Uberto Alberti, a corrupt official in league with the Templars. Ezio kills Uberto in revenge, and after fleeing with his mother and sister to their villa in the Tuscan countryside, he learns of his Assassin heritage and begins training under his uncle Mario. Ezio also befriends local inventor Leonardo da Vinci, who helps Ezio with his work by decoding an encrypted codex that contains Altaïr’s memoirs, as well as plans for advanced assassin weaponry. As Ezio looks at them with Eagle Vision, the thirty codex pages come together to form a hidden map of the vaults across the world. Over the course of a decade Ezio assassinates the conspirators involved in his father’s death, leaving Rodrigo Borgia, a nobleman and Templar who has retrieved the Apple of Eden and is the center of the conspiracy. Ezio and other Assassins reclaim the Apple of Eden, but Borgia flees. Ezio is formally inducted as an Assassin, and is told that he may be a prophet as described in the codex.

During the course of the game Desmond experiences a number of unusual occurrences. First he discovers strange glyphs apparently left by a previous test subject (Who died because the Abstergo staff left him in the Animus for too long), similar to the symbols seen at Abstergo, which hide a secret history of the world. He later dreams of appearing as Altaïr again, chasing after Maria, a Templar he had earlier spared, and then romanced her. Finally, several memories are skipped, throwing the timeline forward by more than a decade to the Vatican, where Borgia now resides as Pope Alexander VI. The “skipped” memories are available as downloadable content, and deal with the Battle of Forlì and the Bonfire of the Vanities.

Borgia is now the Pope and has in his possession the Papal Staff, another Piece of Eden. He attempts to use it to enter a vault that the prophet as described in the codex must enter. Ezio intercepts Borgia, but spares his life, and enters the vault himself. He encounters the hologram of a woman, who claims to be once known as Minerva, and who also claims to come from a civilization whose members were also seen in the same light by ancient peoples. Minerva tells of a great disaster that had befallen and destroyed her civilization, and warns that it will occur again soon. Talking directly to Desmond, she tells him “The rest is up to you,” leaving Ezio extremely confused.

Desmond is pulled out of the Animus as Abstergo has located their hideout. He, Lucy and the rest of the team manage to flee to safety, and soon prepare to return Desmond to the Animus to search for clues that may help them.

Learning Project Linker #3: The Story mode: Sequence 1 – Hours Spent: 5hrs

Well I got a bit of consumed of the multiplayer lately and decided to visit and learn about the story mode.

Well let’s begin with the 2 part opening sequence:

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood‘s story mode picks up right away after the ending of Assassin’s Creed 2, where a a secret has been divulge to Ezio Auditore da Firenze. He now escapes Il Vaticano or The Vatican and heads home to Monterriggioni

First Impression: This game if whacked out. It’s crazy and all it needs is a mythical beasts and flying pigs to be complete.

Desmond Miles was born in an Assassin “hideout” in the United States, which was known as “the Farm“, an off-the-grid compound with a population of about thirty people. Though he was destined to be trained as an Assassin, he was frustrated by his parents’ explicit instructions not to leave the compound, and believed them to be overly concerned and paranoid. On his sixteenth birthday, he finally fled, wanting “to see the rest of the world.” He had no regrets over leaving his parents since, as far as he was concerned, they were little more than his wardens, with the farm as his prison.

After leaving the Assassin compound, Desmond went into hiding for nine years. While keeping a low profile, he eventually became a bartender. Wanting to avoid the Assassins, Desmond never used his real name, and used only cash to purchase items. However, he was eventually found, traced through a fingerprint needed for a motorcycle license, and was kidnapped by the Templars, who brought him to an Abstergo laboratory in Italy.

Desmond was used by Abstergo as a Catalyst to look for “Pieces of Eden” via Animus. She was rescued by Lucy Stillman, and  told Desmond that they wanted him to be trained as an Assassin, which could be achieved in a matter of days, thanks to the Bleeding effect. Doing so required him to learn through the ancestor that he had synchronized with Subject 16, Ezio Auditore. Desmond agreed to help almost immediately, which surprised Lucy. He was then quickly plugged into the Animus 2.0, and began reliving Ezio’s memories.

As he climbed out of the Animus, Lucy tossed Desmond a hidden blade with the Assassin insignia on the bracer, and asked for his assistance in covering their escape. Making their way into the warehouse, they were confronted by Warren and several Abstergo security guards, all of whom were intent on reclaiming Desmond.

The two eliminated all of the Templars that assaulted them, with Desmond – now fully synchronized with Ezio and possessing all of his abilities – masterfully using his hidden blade to kill many of the guards himself. With his entourage defeated, Warren was left to confront Desmond on his own; though he opted instead to retreat, promising that their victory was only temporary.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze (1459 – 1524) was a Florentine noble during the Italian Renaissance and, unbeknownst to most historians and philosophers, Mentor of the Assassin Order in Italy. He was an ancestor to both Desmond Miles and Subject 16.

Ezio remained unaware of his Assassin heritage until the age of 17, when his father and two brothers, Federico and Petruccio, were murdered before his eyes. Forced to flee his birthplace with his remaining family, Ezio took refuge in the Tuscan town ofMonteriggioni, at the Villa Auditore. Learning of his heritage from his uncle, Mario Auditore, Ezio began his Assassin training and his quest for vengeance against the Grand Master of the Templar OrderRodrigo Borgia, who had ordered the execution of his father and two brothers.

During his quest, Ezio managed to not only unite the pages of Altaïr’s Codex for the first time since Domenico Auditore but also to save the cities of Florence, Venice, and Rome from theTemplars‘ control. He ensured the future travels of Christoffa Corombo to the “New World,” liberated Rome from Borgia control, and prevented the rise to power of Ercole Massimo‘s Cult of Hermes, helping spread the Renaissance and Assassin ideals of independence and free thought throughout Italy.

What have learned?

Follow Instructions! – This game is does not want any errors! It doesn’t say “Game Over” or “You Suck”  It simply Desynchronizes you because Ezio did not do “errors” and “careless mistakes”

The House of Borgia, or Borja, was a SpanishItalian noble family that became prominent during the Renaissance. Notable members of the family include RodrigoCesare and Lucrezia Borgia. The family is known today for their crimes, such as theft, murder, incest and simony. During the Renaissance, the Borgia family was the most prominent embodiment of the Templars and also the Order’s leaders. In 1492 with election of Rodrigo Borgia to Pope, the family became the ruling body of the Papal state. The city of Rome declined into corruption, theft, murder and oppression.

Ezio Auditore became a prominent resistance against the Borgia in the early 16th century, and recruited citizens to the Assassinscause. As the power of the Borgias declined and disarrayed, the city of Rome experienced a change, the benefits of art and culture finally arrived and its people discovered the prosperity of the Renaissance. In 1503 with the murder of Rodrigo Borgia, courtesy of his son, Cesare, the Borgia family took an instant downfall, with Cesare, the Captain General of the Papal armies, arrested and exiled to Spain in 1504. The family lost all of it’s influence upon the death of Rodrigo after Pius III and later Julius IIsucceeded him as Pope.

Sequence 1:

The continuing story is set in 2012. After escaping the Templars‘ attack at the end of Assassin’s Creed IIDesmond MilesLucy Stillman, Rebecca Crane and Shaun Hastings flee to Monteriggioni, establishing a new hideout in the ruins of the Villa Auditore. After restoring the electricity in the old tunnels under the villa, the player once again takes control of Ezio Auditore through the genetic memory of Desmond Miles using the Animus 2.0 (which is the game’s memory interface). Their mission is to find the Apple of Eden, an important and mysterious artifact that could prevent the impending disaster that is coming in that same year, believed to be perpetrated by the Templars.

Ezio’s story continues in 1499, where he exits the Vault, confused by what he saw inside. He escapes Rome with his uncle Mario Auditore and arrives at Monteriggioni. Once home, Ezio is comforted by the prospect that his personal vendetta is over and that his days as an Assassin are done; however, Niccolò Machiavelli challenges Ezio’s decision to leave Rodrigo Borgia, now Pope Alexander VI, alive. The following morning, Monteriggioni is besieged by Cesare Borgia, son of Rodrigo. Mario is killed at the hands of Cesare himself, and the Apple lost to Cesare and the Templars. Ezio escapes with his family and travels to Rome, the center of the Templar Order in Italy, once again seeking vengeance against the Borgias. There, he discovers that the Assassins are failing in the fight against corruption. Determined to redeem the Guild, Ezio convinces Machiavelli that he has what it takes to lead while assembling a Brotherhood powerful enough to destroy the Templars and his new arch-nemesis, Cesare Borgia.

After playing another three hours of this video game, I have reached level 14 as a gamer in this game.

This bonus is applied once you have killed three targets silently (you will see the Silent score). The bonus adds an additional 300 points to each successive silent kill until you lose a contract or kill a target without the Silent bonus.

The Morph ability changes all characters within a 3.2 radius of you into your character’s skin. Try to find a group to use this one to increase the probability that your pursuer will pick the wrong target. You can also use this ability to counter your target’s Morph ability or Blender perk. When you use it on a group that has been morphed/blendered already, all the NPCs will change to your skin, revealing your target. Combined with Disguise, you can walk slightly away from your morphed group so your pursuer’s compass is still full, and he’ll likely kill someone in the group or at least smoke or charge the group, instead of you.

Some people have asked me about my struggles in the game and this is I respond to it. This is a sample video of a Wanted match:

If you’re playing Wanted, you are given an assassination contract or to kill your target while being targeted by other people simultaneously.  I find it difficult to get a kill during the first 7 hours of my game because most of the players are level 50, the highest level that you can get game-meaning that they have every skill,perk, and bonuses. Also, whenever I try to land on a kill, I always die in the hands of the enemy via stab or the infamous Poison. Most enemies in the game have this skill and with said skill they rack the most points.

This ability lets you poison your target for a delayed kill and a 100–300 point bonus, depending on which version you use. It’s dangerous to use this ability, because it takes five seconds to kill your target, and if another pursuer takes them out before the poison gets them, you only get 50 points. You must also be much closer to your target than for a normal assassination, so it is riskier. However, the rewards are worth it, especially with Long Lasting Poison that gives you the most points. Combined with Rapid Reload Disguise, this combination can add 500 points to you kill, and is the ability set that will gain you the most points in Wanted. Another good pairing is with Smoke Bomb, which you can use offensively to let you safely get in and deliver the poison.

In this game, the person who gets the most kills does not get the most points. In fact, going out in the open and killing everyone will make you vulnerable to attack and does not give you a lot of point per kill. The person with the most effective kills always win. I struggled a lot in playing the game. This game has almost three hundred Non-playable characters on the map and most  some of them look like you, the character you have chosen. here is a list of characters:

Basically, you play as one these characters and try to kill your target. the best strategy is to “blend” in with characters that look like you to confuse your enemy. that way you can escape your pursuer or stun them by pressing O. If you stun your pursue, he/she will lose their contract on you and will change into another person. Wanted is a game where its “free for all” and 8 of you guys battle it out in ten minutes. This game is all about Stealth. It is like being a thief or being a gun for hire assassin.

Well, I usually succeed on killing players that new to the game or “noobs” that do not know what they’re doing and do not even care about the consequences. killing them is easy and gives you more time to hide and survive from the professional gamers.

This games offers a lot of learning curves and it takes practice, finger dexterity, and dedication. It’s hard but it is very rewarding.

Learning Project Linker #1: The Multiplayer mode – Hours Spent: 4hrs

After playing Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood for four hours, this is what i have learned. I jumped on the multiplayer mode to learn about the core gameplay: Assassination contracts-meaning that you are given a person to assassinate. When you first enter multiplayer, The game automatically show this cutscene:

This video is about  an Abstergo executive debriefing its abstergo agents about the Animus, a machine that will enable them to sychronize their thoughts with an ancestor of the chosen era.  He also debrief the purpose of their facility, to train them as Templars and destroy the Assassins.

The game then takes you to an introductory session to teach you the basics of the game:

The video teaches you how to use your radar that indicates if your target is near on not. Furthermore, it allows you to test your abilities on killing. In this game, the stealthier the kill, the more points you rack up. As you play the modes, you level up with experience, me? not doing good on the level up part ’cause I suck so bad.

Kill Bonuses

Savior 50 Kill your target, who is close to killing their target (when they are less than 10m from the target).
Grounded 50 Kill your target while the target is on the ground.
Mid-Air 100 Kill your target in the air with the hidden gun.

Intercepted 50 Another Templar kills your poisoned target before the poison has its effect.

Some of the bonuses are really tricky to get and may require some help from others or not. hehehe

Wanted

Wanted involves 6-8 players. Each player has a target to pursue, and one or more pursuers chasing them.

Unlocked by default.

Advanced Wanted

Advance Wanted is extremely similar to Wanted, however you will receive less information on your target. Unlike the standard Wanted, this mode is only accessible to players above a certain level, and the compass will not indicate whether your target is above or below you.

Manhunt


Manhunt involves two teams, with each team composed of 3-4 players. The game is divided into two rounds, wherein, in turns, one team will be pursuing, while the other will be hiding.

Unlocked by default.

Alliance


Alliance involves 6 players, with 2 players on each of the 3 teams. The game is divided into two rounds, in which each team will have one team pursuing them, and another team hiding from them.

Unlocked at Level 10.

Advanced Alliance

Advaned Alliance is identical to Alliance, aside from the fact that it is not indicated if your target is above or below you.

Chest Capture

Chest Capture, like Manhunt, involves two teams, composed of 3-4 players. Chests are deposited around the map. It is the job of one team to guard the chests, while the other team attempts to retrieve their contents. There are two rounds, with the roles swapping in the second round.

Escort

In Escort mode, two teams of four players compete in this team-based mode where each team must protect their VIP target or assassinate the other team’s VIP.The VIP’s, being two random Personas, will travel from checkpoint to checkpoint. As the VIP clears a checkpoint, the Protectors team will gain points.

I haven’t tried every mode yet due to the fact that some of them require you to purchase downloadable content.

One word, These modes will kill you! or in layman’s term: OWNED! There are a lot of professionals people online that will kill the crap out of you if you’re not careful. luckily, you get abilities that you’ll get as you level up.

I am currently level 11 and I have these abilities that proved to be very useful:

AC Brotherhood icon Disguise.png Disguise

  • Level acquired: 2
  • Duration: 12 seconds
  • Cooldown time: 60 seconds

The Disguise ability changes your appearance to one of the other character skins at random. This is useful to confuse a pursuer, who has to determine who his target is visually when he gets close enough. Defensively, this is best used while standing near one or more characters that look like you. This way it’s not obvious to the pursuer which one is you. Note that your pursuer will hear a distinctive sound when you activate your disguise, so this can be a problem against better players.

Where Disguise is much more useful is as an offensive ability. The two unlockable versions, Long Lasting Disguise and Rapid Reload Disguise, both award the Hidden bonus when you kill your target. This is an easy way to add 200 points to your kills, and Rapid Reload Disguise has a super-short cooldown. As a side benefit, if you do have pursuers while you are trying to perform a kill, it can confuse your enemies allowing you to get the assassination where otherwise it would have failed.

This ability increases your speed while in high profile by 30%. Sprint Boost will give you a better chance of catching your target in chase mode or escaping your pursuer in pursuit mode.

  • Level acquired: 8
  • Duration: 3 seconds
  • Cooldown time: 60 seconds

The Smoke Bomb creates a smoky cloud 3.2 meters in diameter with a small pause between activating the ability and its creation. This will stun other characters, allowing you to escape, stun your pursuer or kill your target. You can also use the ability in hiding. Defensively, you want to throw your Smoke Bomb a bit early to account for lag, and it is also helpful to dart toward your pursuer quickly before dropping it to make sure you catch them. Smoke Bomb can defeat Charge, but it will not defend you against aerial kills. Note that the Smoke Bomb can also be dropped from above if you happen to above your target or pursuer.

Offensively, Smoke Bomb can help you acquire a Focus, especially with Long Lasting Smoke Bomb, or a Hidden, but dropping it as you walk up to a stationary blend group where you target is hiding and blending before taking the kill. It is also helpful in landing Poison on your target. A little known use for Smoke Bomb is to ferret out your target when they’re seated with NPCs. When you smoke the bench, the player character will stand up slightly slower than NPCs. Finally, it can be used to determine who your target is in a group: drop the Smoke Bomb, which will stun the group, then use gentle push on the personas. Player characters can’t be pushed out of the way like NPCs, so if you’re quick enough you can find your target and take him out.

  • Aim time: 1.5 seconds
  • Cooldown time: 90 seconds

The Hidden Gun can be used on a character you’re locked on to. Hold down the ability button to focus your aim and release to fire. Getting a kill in this way isn’t worth a very high score, but if your target is far away or constantly running around, it may be easier and quicker to use it. You can get a slight score bump for waiting until your target is airborne before pulling the trigger. This is mainly a griefing tool, and shouldn’t be used if you’re trying to score well.

Thoughts on the Learning Project

At first, I was a little sceptical about this “Learning Project”, but this could be a very good learning experience. I was given approval by Dean Shareski himself to learn to play a video game that I am not good at. I chose Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood due to my sudden intrigue of its setting, Italia or Italy in English, the birth place of the Renaissance, and home of the of the most wonderful edifices such as the Roman Colosseum, not to mention Pizza lol. Just kidding.  This is the Catalyst where I am going to post my progress as I “Unravel” the mysteries and secrets of this video game.

Ah yes! my learning project. a game we call Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. But not just yet! lol we need to see the review first to see if the game is worth playing.

What you need to know about the game:

Setting is in Rome, Italy. The “Boot” country and the home of pizza.

There are two Modes:  Story Mode and Multiplayer.

Story Mode starts where Assassin’s Creed 2 left. It is solely single player, so no jumping to another player’s story mode and killing the crap out of them. Thanks a lot Demon’s Souls.

Multiplayer is a mode where you play as the enemy and training as a modern day via Animus, where you “fill in” the shoes of your chosen player where you are given an assassination contract and pursue your enemy while at the same time being pursued by others. It’s a massacre alright

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood has been very well-received by critics. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic gave the Xbox 360 version 90.59% and 89/100, the PlayStation 3 version 90.06% and 90/100 and the PC version 88.40% and 88/100. It won best Action Adventure game in the Spike TV Video Game Awards 2010The game has also been nominated for 7 British Academy Video Games Awards in 2011, including Best Game. It won an award in the Action category, losing to Mass Effect 2 in the category for Best Game.

The multiplayer was heralded by many at E3 2010, where it was showcased for the first time. GameTrailers lauded it as the Best Multiplayer Game of the show.The multiplayer portion of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood was generally well-received by critics. Game Informer gave the Brotherhood a 9.25/10, commenting that the ability to raise a group of followers was a significant enhancement to the previous title’s gameplay, and praising the new multiplayer mode as something never before seen. The magazine’s review also gave very high marks to the graphics, sound effects and voice acting.

Eurogamer praised everything about Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, giving it a 10/10, and particularly noted the maturity of the story: “One mission sees Ezio disrupting an assassination attempt in the ruins of the Roman Colosseum during a play about the death of Jesus Christ. It demands a developer of poise and compassion to wield such thorny concepts deftly, and it’s a measure of Ubisoft Montreal’s maturity that it is more than equal to the challenge…Brotherhood builds an intriguing mystery around compelling characters, surrounds them with collectibles and secrets, and encourages play – and nothing feels out of place.”

Reviews for the delayed PC version questioned the reason behind the delayed release date as the game was virtually unchanged from the console version albeit with better graphical enhancements and minor bonus content. However most praised Ubisoft‘s move to remove the DRM that marred the PC version of Assassin’s Creed II as well as include all DLC free of charge.
