Learning Project Linker #6: Bashing Through Online….Again? Hours Spent 6 Hours

Image Detail

These days have been very tough on me due the unending homework that I have been having lately. I was like, nope, I’m gonna play Assassin’s Creed and “chilloot” for a while hahaha. What I found out was playing 6 hours straight can actually give strains to your eyes, mind, and body. I’m a gamer and I was always use to be exposed to video games for long period but that was years ago. Why? because Video games have evolve from sparingly awful graphics to high definition 3d game play and the expectations are very very high especially from the hit games such as Call of Duty, God of War, and Final Fantasy. I’m finally putting the hardest challenges that happen to me during the duration of this learning project.

The difficulties that I have experience was my Internet connection. If you’re internet connection sucks, don’t even attempt to play this game online, because lag issues will emerge all over the place and ruin your gameplay. Also, it will disconnect very often due to the technical difficulties that are presents in the game.

Another difficulty, was group isolation. this means that you can’t switch teams once a team of four formed a group. they will own and kill you every time, They will stun you repeated and escape most of your chase sequences, and they will rack up the most point and make you lose.

Lastly, The Final difficulty that I had was the trash talking in the lobbies. I don’t personally talk shit on my the lobbies and games but I shout when I win and what I find humiliating is that a lot of people talk shit at you with your proper consent  and reason. I dislike people who do that and proclaim themselves as bona fide “professional” players when they’re not.

Well, I over did it 27 hours and still counting ’cause I still have to finish the campaign mode and rock at it due to the experience I earned from multiplayer mode but, until then, You just have to wait lol. Peace out! for now that is lol

Letter of Job Interest

I wrote this letter last year to learn about Restaurant Functionality. It was not really sent but, it was a part of a project in my Work Experience 30 class.

February 25, 2011

Matt Nicholson, Manager

Smitty’s Restaurant

105 North Service Road East

Swift Current, SK

Dear Mr. Nicholson,

I love to learn more on Restaurant functionality and would like to be considered for a part-time position as a Host at Smitty’s Restaurant that was advertised on the Localjobshop.ca

I enjoy working with people and have had the opportunity to interact with many groups and individuals through my work at the local school Drama plays, Improv clubs, Special Events Committee, Meistersingers Choir, and Oratorio Choir. I am a very innovative person and enjoy coming up with new styles and approaches to the people around me. I have experience in the kitchen work because I used to work at Mcdonalds. I would be available to work after school, evenings and weekends.

I look forward to hearing from you to discuss my qualifications further.  I can be reached at 773-0142 anytime after 5:30 p.m. or in the evening.

Yours truly

English 100 Journal #3

After all of these weeks, after all the struggles and the pain that I have suffered from university’s relentless assaults. I, Edgar Allan Dela Cruz will survive my first semester. English 100 is one of the toughest challenges that I have faced ever since challenging the valedictorian of my class to an argument about “knowledge versus money” in which I lost. The question is why did I bring up this story? I never engage without purpose so, this is why. The title of valedictorian is awarded to the person with the highest grade point average. Also, valedictorians are respected and whom most people depend on when it comes to group activities and brain storming. Like the valedictorian, for me, English 100 has demands that I could never possibly meet. Furthermore, it is very structured and has several branches of almost unlimited supply of content. They come in different shapes and sizes. They could go from poems to essays and from paragraphs to journals. Why am I saying this? It is because I envy people who were born with natural talent on academics. These people can easily decipher poems and literary pieces like Robert Francis’ “The Pitcher” in a matter of minutes while it seemed barely understandable to people like me without that natural talent. Why can we just be equal? “Ten thousand hours” says Malcolm Gladwell, a phrase that I have been hearing from various professors at the U of R ever since the beginning of class. I had a similar motto of defeating gene via perseverance. However, I started to doubt my motto when I pushed myself to my limits and realized that I was not even close to the level and grandeur of that valedictorian. Overwhelming would be the proper word to describe this phenomenon as well as this English 100 class wouldn’t it?  I am weary of the journey of life. I am baffled, confused, and alone in the land of uncharted snow. Does hope and altruism exist? If so, who has it? Why it is only bestowed to the hands of famous, intelligent, and the undeserving? Though my futile attempts to survive this course devour my strength and distort my well-being, I do not plan on giving up. Listen: Being sick does not help either. However, for reasons unknown, my cognitively is not is not the same as before. I do not why this cognitive deterioration is happening to me. I made a gamble and placed my credibility on the line. (My head hurts). It’s not over yet English 100. I will put the last bit of my strength into passing this class before God knows what happens. English 100, you are tough to finish, and seemingly impossible to finish especially to a schmuck like but, let me tell you this: I will not letting you succeed into dragging me into the abyss.

Bonus Content:

Dear Professor,

That was some rant that I made and I apologize. However I think it had to be done and I feel a lot better know. Being sick distorts my thinking and reason. Since we are on the topic of poems, I decided to share one of mine for non-academic reason and some feedback I guess.

Sincerely Yours

Edgar Allan Dela Cruz

The Moon

Soundless, lifeless, and heartless

Consumed by darkness, a land of no caress.

Desolated with lies, devoured by Melancholy

Visited by observers, a vessel full of folly

Windless, depressing, clueless

Populated by craters, all faceless.

A place of overwhelming drought

A realm of unforgiving doubt

Beauty as it may from far away

A demented version of the milky way

Supressing day and offering night

The phenomena of an eclipse, the dark light

The Moon, the parsimonious moon

The pretentious shade, a silent typhoon

Gaming on the Move Issue#1: DDR

Hi I was cleaning up my hard drive and I came upon this video that I made ages ago. In my learning projects, I haven’t shown any of my game footages because I do not have recording device. However DDR has it on its system and I was able to record it with the help of Playstation Eye Camera. Obviously my gameplay is not perfect but, I did the best that I could. Enjoy!

Tech Task# 7 – Educational Gaming

“Find and play an educational game. Write a short review on it. Consider Sylvia’s perspectives and your own as your write.”

Well I’m gamer and I love Math as well so I choose a very interesting game that suits my skills and gives me a challenges at the same time.

This game is called Baloon Invaders, a game that challenges your mathematical ability and at the same time challenges your finger dexterity.

In this game you play a person whose mission is to save the world from balloons with numbers on it? too serious? yeah that’s not it lol.

This game’s main purpose is to train you on memorizing either multiplication or division. But wait, there is a catch. this is where the core gameplay pops in.

you are given a a multiplication or a division question and you need to pop the balloon that corresponds to the question. pretty easy right? Here’s a bigger catch.

The balloons move sideways until they fall to you, so if you pop the wrong balloon, you lose a chance to get the question that the balloon has. furthermore hit 2 balloons and the game ends.

This game not only challenges your mathematical ability but you finger dexterity as well. This game actually reminds me of Galaga

This game is good practising multiplication and division but noticed that there technical issues and bugs that I noticed while playing it. However, this game can  also prove to be very useful when you’re training to think faster and give your fingers more dexterity for writing on your pc.

I am giving it an 9/10 because this game its not for the likes of everyone but if you want you’re a math person like me or just want something different for change, then this game is definitely for you.

Thoughts on the Learning Project

At first, I was a little sceptical about this “Learning Project”, but this could be a very good learning experience. I was given approval by Dean Shareski himself to learn to play a video game that I am not good at. I chose Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood due to my sudden intrigue of its setting, Italia or Italy in English, the birth place of the Renaissance, and home of the of the most wonderful edifices such as the Roman Colosseum, not to mention Pizza lol. Just kidding.  This is the Catalyst where I am going to post my progress as I “Unravel” the mysteries and secrets of this video game.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Image via Wikipedia

Ah yes! my learning project. a game we call Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. But not just yet! lol we need to see the review first to see if the game is worth playing.

What you need to know about the game:

Setting is in Rome, Italy. The “Boot” country and the home of pizza.

There are two Modes:  Story Mode and Multiplayer.

Story Mode starts where Assassin’s Creed 2 left. It is solely single player, so no jumping to another player’s story mode and killing the crap out of them. Thanks a lot Demon’s Souls.

Multiplayer is a mode where you play as the enemy and training as a modern day via Animus, where you “fill in” the shoes of your chosen player where you are given an assassination contract and pursue your enemy while at the same time being pursued by others. It’s a massacre alright

here is a video review of Ign to get us all started, IGN:. Now that it is out of the picture, here is the collect reception of the game from wikipedia.org:

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood has been very well-received by critics. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic gave the Xbox 360 version 90.59% and 89/100, the PlayStation 3 version 90.06% and 90/100 and the PC version 88.40% and 88/100. It won best Action Adventure game in the Spike TV Video Game Awards 2010The game has also been nominated for 7 British Academy Video Games Awards in 2011, including Best Game. It won an award in the Action category, losing to Mass Effect 2 in the category for Best Game.

The multiplayer was heralded by many at E3 2010, where it was showcased for the first time. GameTrailers lauded it as the Best Multiplayer Game of the show. The multiplayer portion of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood was generally well-received by critics. Game Informer gave the Brotherhood a 9.25/10, commenting that the ability to raise a group of followers was a significant enhancement to the previous title’s gameplay, and praising the new multiplayer mode as something never before seen. The magazine’s review also gave very high marks to the graphics, sound effects and voice acting.

Eurogamer praised everything about Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, giving it a 10/10, and particularly noted the maturity of the story: “One mission sees Ezio disrupting an assassination attempt in the ruins of the Roman Colosseum during a play about the death of Jesus Christ. It demands a developer of poise and compassion to wield such thorny concepts deftly, and it’s a measure of Ubisoft Montreal’s maturity that it is more than equal to the challenge…Brotherhood builds an intriguing mystery around compelling characters, surrounds them with collectibles and secrets, and encourages play – and nothing feels out of place.”

Reviews for the delayed PC version questioned the reason behind the delayed release date as the game was virtually unchanged from the console version albeit with better graphical enhancements and minor bonus content. However most praised Ubisoft‘s move to remove the DRM that marred the PC version of Assassin’s Creed II as well as include all DLC free of charge.

Poetry Time #2

Here is another poem that I made for my Teacher, adviser, and a big sister,

Ms. Dennehy

A woman of music and integrity
The best Choral Director-Full of Authority
Transcendent, Gentle, and Smart
Traits that can never be bought at Walmart

She wears glasses, contacts, and has majestic eyes
Whenever I am in her class, my voice says Hi to the skies
Her voice is like pure Sunshine
warm, sweet, and vibrant-God's Design

Her Philosophy is a university
A community, working together-Full of diversity
With her, the Choir is Alive!
Tenors-Bright, Altos-Dark, Sopranos-High, Basses-Thrive

But who is she outside the class?; the inner
A loving daughter and A Legitimate Singer
She enjoys singing, dancing, and acting
A triple threat, like a powerful bullet-piercing

She loves to cook; chopping here, whacking that
Humming and waiting on the oven's spat.
This is Ms. Dennehy: a Little Angel! That's a fact!: half rest
"Live, Love, Laugh!" I only want to say, She's the Best! -Edgar Allan Not Poe
